TURNER TOWNHOUSES
WHY
Re-development was sought of a large residential corner block in Turner. The intention was to offer four high amenity, sympathetically landscaped townhouses, rather than high yield apartments with basement.
HOW
A key design goal was to maintain as much existing landscape as possible, and preserve the existing street character with a sympathetic form and materiality. The design maximises the north orientation and leafy frontages of the street, while utilising the existing driveway for on-grade garages at the south. Each townhouse has secluded courtyards or terraces framed by the building form. Internal double height volumes deliver light and space, and long circulation spines create connectivity and cross ventilation.
